The Italian Government has shown interest in the introduction of direct flights from Italy to Malindi in Kilifi county.
This has been revealed during a meeting between Italian investment delegation led by the Italian Ambassador to Kenya Alberto Pieri and Kilifi Deputy Governor Eng Gideon Saburi.
Saburi said the flights will boost the dwindling tourism sector in the County.
The DG said the County Government of Kilifi has had a longtime economic partnership with Italy and further commended the economic activities done by the Italian Embassy in Kilifi county.
Pieri vowed to ensure several bankable projects across Kilifi are funded by the Italian Government.
"I commend this generous gesture and wish to ascertain our full commitment towards the actualisation of these programs for the betterment of Kilifi County. I assure to work hand in hand with the Italian government," Saburi said on Thursday.
