A Member of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto now claims former Starehe legislator Maina Kamanda was nominated to the National Assembly at the expense of women.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa alleged that Kamanda was irregularly nominated after he was floored by greenhorn Charles Kanyi, popularly known as Jaguar, in the 2017 polls.
Barasa said the veteran politician was a political reject and therefore had no authority to dare leaders allied to Ruto decamp from Jubilee Party.
"I heard someone who was evicted from leadership by voters of Starehe, Nairobi, asking us elected Jubilee members inclined towards H.E the DP to quit the party. I want to tell Mr. Kamanda that he should know the nominated MP position he holds today belongs to the women," he said in a post on Facebook on Monday.
Barasa was reacting after the former Starehe MP dared Ruto’s camp to leave the governing party instead of attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta over the war on corruption which they claim is targeting the DP.
"If you want to leave the party do it quietly without hurling insults at the President but I assure you that Jubilee will remain intact and united," Kamanda said during a church service at Kasarani PCEA, Nairobi on Sunday.
But speaking during a function at Matulo Girls Secondary school in Bungoma County, Barasa said Ruto was part of the governing party and won't bolt out.
"We in Jubilee are comfortable and we are here to stay," reiterated the first-time MP.
