Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has cancelled a trip to Kisii and Nyamira scheduled this Friday, which coincided with that of Deputy President William Ruto.
An itinerary released earlier on indicated that Dr Matiang'i was due to commission police headquarters in Keroka before officially launching newly built Immigration offices in Kisii.
But in a change of twist, his aide Brian Mamboleo, said the CS had cancelled the trip, opting to open County Commissioner of Narok offices on Friday.
"CS will be opening County Commissioner offices in Narok on Friday. He will also be attending Madaraka Day celebrations at the same county on Saturday," said Mamboleo in a phone call.
Asked why the CS cancelled Gusii trip, Mamboleo was quick to dismiss speculations that it's because it coincided with the visit of the DP.
"Not at all. At times itineraries change. On Saturday the country will be celebrating Madaraka Day so there is logic behind visiting Narok," he said.
A fortnight ago, a section of MPs allied to Dr Ruto, had threatened to impeach the powerful minister over fake golf scandal, a move that backlashed.
Dr Ruto will tour West Mugirango where he will commission NG-CDF offices at Nyamaiya before attending a fundraiser at Nyamira Catholic. Later, he will visit Matiang'i's backyard in Borabu.
