Early this week, reports emerged that the Nairobi County government was set to increase parking fees to Sh1, 000 from next month.
The rumours were circulated on various social media platform as a means of reducing congestion in the city.
"News just in parking fees goes up for a private car park in Nairobi county from 300 to 1000 this is to discourage parking in CBD From 1st September,” reads a social media.
However, Nairobi Finance executive Allan Igambi said the reports are false.
“This is not true. We have received the Finance Bill but it has nothing of the sort, ” Mr Igambi is quoted by Nairobi News.
Earlier, the county was exploring ways of slashing the fees to Sh200.
The Mike Sonko regime has been attempting to decongest the city with some quarters proposing increasing parking fees to discourage motorists from accessing the city.
