Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday joined thousands of Catholic faithful at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret to mark the first anniversary since the death of the Eldoret Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir.

Bishop Korir died on October 30, 2017.

During the first anniversary, a special memorial mass was held for the late Bishop whose peacebuilding activities across the North Rift region still lives on.

Both religious and political leaders attended the function.

Deputy President William Ruto who spoke during the heaped praise at Bishop Korir as a father of peace not only in the region but countrywide.

He also termed the late Bishop a steadfast crusader of human rights and a just society.

"Bishop Korir was a great servant of God, selfless man who rallied communities to profess love for each other," noted Ruto.
