The latest incident happened barely a week ago, where an Administration Police (AP) officer attached to the Rapid Deployment Unit, Kapendo camp who allegedly broke into a petrol station office in a case of robbery with violence.

The police officer who has since been identified as Corporal Richard Githaka Karajna of No 2005007950 is said to have broken into the petrol station, accessed a safe containing sh. 700,000 before killing Muzee Dakane Abdille.

After the incident, the case was reported to Mandera Police station.

Several days later, the alleged officer was arrested and locked up at the station's cells waiting to be arraigned before a Mandera Court on Friday 14 December 2018.

However, on the night of Thursday 13 December 2018, a raid transpired.

A contingent of armed AP officers from Kapendo RDU camp stormed the said police station where Karanja was being held while shooting in the air.

Their intention was to free their colleague.

Upon their arrival at the Mandera police station, the AP officers totaling 14 in number forcefully took the keys from a cell's sentry no. 107120 Police Constable Maina James at gunpoint.

Out of fear and panic, the officer handed over the keys and the AP officers freed their colleague and left while again shooting in the air.

Following this turn of events, residents of Mandera are now calling on the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Inspector General of Police (IG) and the IPOA to take up the matter, failure to which they would stage massive demonstrations demanding justice for the slain Muzee Dakane Abdille.
