Speaking on Radio Citizen Wednesday morning, the county chief vowed to among others, reduce congestion at the county headquarters in Kisumu City.

He noted that he has since sought the services of two firms to aid in re-planning the town as he seeks to get rid of traffic congestion and poor construction planning.

He added that the same will also make the city able to deal with the anticipated growth and bigger population in the coming days.

‘’Kisumu hii ni ile Kisumu ya zamani. Tunataka Kisumu itakayoweza kubeba matarajio yetu ya siku zijazo. Tumechukua kampuni mbili ambazo zitatusaidia kwa kazi ya kupanga mzi upya .(We have contracted two companies to help us in planning as we seek to modernize the city),’’ said the Governor.

Nyong’o added that he has also laid out proper structures to increase revenue for the provision of better services to the people, adding that the benefits will be out by mid 2019.

He also announced plans to modernize county owned residences, most of which have been in existence since the mid-90s.

‘’Mitaa kama Kaloleni tutaiboresha na kuwapa wakaazi nafasi za kwanza (we will better the houses in estates like Kaloleni. Current residences will get the first priority as we increase the number of houses),’’ he added.
