Traders in Chebilat have taken Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama 'head-on' following an acute water shortage that has hit the region.
They claimed that the county government had done nothing to improve the situation of supplying clean water to the residents.
"It is worrying that Nyagarama has not put measures to improve the supply of water in Nyamira. The available water springs have ran dry leaving us in agony. The county boss should move with speed to drill boreholes for the sake of improving water supply in the region," said Liverton Mong'iti.
The traders addressed the press at Chebilat on Friday.
Jeremiah Marando protested the ODM allied governor's 'incompetency'.
"As Nyamira people we have nothing to smile about Governor Nyagarama who has put his stomach and relatives first. We are facing the water crisis because the county government has ignored poor locals, only few individuals are benefiting from the county leadership," Marando said.
Agnes Mokogoti accused Nyagarama of giving the electorate a raw deal even after he was overwhelmingly elected for the second time.
"There is no single water project Nyagarama's government has commissioned to boost water supply. We are fighting daily at water springs because of water. Nyamira people elected an incompetent governor," Agnes said.
