Recently, Ruto asked Kalenjins to abandon maize farming for avocado, terming those against it, as 'fools'.

"China cannot buy maize. The market is changing. Just consider avocado farming. Only a fool cannot change," he had said.

And Okemwa now says the move is a strategy to push for monopoly using his 500,000 Ha farm in Congo should farmers quit maize farming.

Further, Okemwa argues, Ruto is keen to have people planting avocados to feed his suspected factory in Botswana.

"He is now calling Kalenjins fools. He wants them to quit maize farming as a strategy to control local market using his Congo farm.

"Maize cannot lack market even in my Gusii home. Avocado cannot be eaten everyday. The DP is a proven liar," he said.

Over the weekend, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter accused Ruto of frustrating local maize farmers by orchastrating delays in payment at NCPB.

Although nominated MP Gideon Keter conceded that Ruto has a maize farm in Brazaville, he however denied frustration of local farmers.
