Veteran politician and former political detainee Koigi Wa Wamwere now says that opposition leader Raila Odinga has taken over Deputy President William Ruto's position.
In an interview, Saturday, the former Subukia Member of Parliament observed that President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to have dropped the DP for the former Prime Minister.
But he noted that the DP has himself to blame due to the restlessness in his camp since Raila's union with President Uhuru Kenyatta last year, observing that the DP has abandoned Uhuru.
"Raila seems to have taken over Ruto's position. The DP's faction in the government seems to have abandoned Uhuru since Raila's entry and is now trying to prepare for battle should the two declare war on the DP," he said.
"This has left Uhuru rather alone but he seems to have found a new friend in Raila as Ruto's camp tries to analyze the real motive behind their truce and probably fight it," noted Wamwere.
Koigi was speaking during an interview on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche Show on Saturday evening.
On the other hand, he said, Raila had impressed the President by lending him his lieutenants who have since dropped their initial hard stand against Uhuru to support him and his agenda.
"Raila has on the other hand been very useful to the President and has lent him his allies who are now traversing the nation endorsing his agenda and his fight against corruption," he added.
But at the same time, Raila and his team have insisted that they remain in the opposition and have not joined Uhuru's Jubilee government.
