Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi was among a section of women who came out to defend Nairobi county speaker Beatrice Elachi.
A section of angry MCAs stormed the City Hall on Monday and tried to forcefully evict Ms Elachi out of her office.
This is despite Ms Elachi securing orders from the labour court stopping the MCAs from impeaching her.
Ms Gedi who is also the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association chair said that the court’s decision should be respected.
Ms Gedi said the court ruled that Ms Elachi should stay in office until the case she filed is heard and determined.
The women rep called on other women to support Ms Elachi claiming that some women are being used by their male colleagues to fight their fellow women.
“The MCAs should respect the court order. Elachi obtained stay orders from the court which allows her to continue being in office until the matter is heard and determined. We believe that Elachi is being fought for being a woman. Am urging the MCAs, especially the women MCAs, to fight for their fellow women. Men protect each other while women are being used to fight other women,” said Ms Gedi.
Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda urged the MCAs to respect the offices they hold and solve issues in a respectful manner.
The MCAs had voted to impeach Ms Elachi over alleged violations including undermining the authority of the county assembly service board, abuse of office, conflict of interest, gross misconduct and failure to show leadership.
