A family in Bonyakeuru area, Nyantira in Kionduso, Kisii County is yet to bury their kin who was struck by lightning a week ago.
According to Ronald Masega, the deceased's father, his son Matara Masega's burial ceremony has been delayed due to a conflict between the family and a church meant to preside over the ceremony.
"The deceased used to worship at Greens Church with his wife while the rest of us are Catholic faithful. As a family we want the Catholic Church to preside over his burial because he was baptized in the Catholic Church and not Green Church," said Masega as reported by Egesa FM.
He accused Greens Life Church pastor of failing to give the family ample time to mourn the deceased and a chance to give him a decent sendoff.
Reached for comment, Greens Life Church Pastor Peter Anyega dismissed the family's claims, saying his church has no reason to delay the burial.
"If the family will allow either Greens Church or the Catholic Church to bury the body, I have no problem. There is no need for the family to put the blame on Greens Church," he said.
The pastor noted that his members are also mourning the deceased as he was an active member of the church.
