Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka will now serve as Senate Minority Deputy Whip, it has been confirmed.
Ms. Kwamboka, a former MCA for Mountain View in Nairobi, has been instrumental in popularising ODM party both in Nairobi and in Gusii region.
She takes over from Senator Petronilla Were of ANC who was replaced following consultations within the NASA coalition.
Ms. Were was affected after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala took over as Deputy Majority Leader, a position formally under James Orengo.
The changes were precipitated by the decision by NASA senators to kick out Moses Wetangula as Minority Leader and subsequently replacing him with James Orengo of Siaya.
Kwamboka will now deputise Mutula Kilonzo of Makueni after NASA leadership wrote to Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka over the latest changes.
Along with Gusii MPs, she has been agitating for Raila Odinga presidency in Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
The ODM party nominated her in 2017 after assessing her commitment to the party especially in grassroot mobilisation.
