It's just a matter of hours if not days before businessman Don Bosco Gichana walks into freedom from Arusha prison.
Last week, Mr. Gichana, a confidant of ODM leader Raila Odinga, was given a five years sentence on top of Tsh300 million fine after pleading guilty of money laundering and fraud charges.
Apparently, the businessman cum politician will not be locked for those years since he'd served a similar period in remand since March 2013.
When news about lenient judgement came out, family and friends strategized on how to raise Sh15 million to secure his freedom.
Sources intimate that Mr. Odinga parted with Sh3 million while a section of Gusii leaders led by Simba Arati and Richard Onyonka along with friends and family raised the rest
On Thursday, Gichana's brother Pascal Gichana deposited the entire amount at Namanga Immigration officer where Mr. Gichana was arrested five years ago.
Once the cheque is taken to court, Mr. Gichana is expected to come back home where a clandestine ceremony would take place.
ODM Communication Director Philip Etale admitted that Mr. Odinga held a meeting with President John Magufuli where Bosco's fate was determined.
In 2007, the youthful politician is credited for funding Raila's campaigns and the famous Hammer was reportedly donated by him.
The youthful politician has a wide influence among the youths across Nyamira and Kisii Counties and he's being fronted to succeed Governor James Ongwae.
