Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has extended an olive branch to county MPs after an ugly incident on Monday where they walked out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's function.

Irked by the decision to block them from addressing the function, the seven MPs, led by Women Representative Joyce Korir, staged a walkout from the function thus precipitating a heated political debate.

But Laboso now wants to meet the MPs and solve differences which might have emanated from the presidential visit.

“It is unfortunate that local politics has overshadowed the LREB conference, which is the first for the bloc, and which we had the honour of hosting, complete with the President and Deputy President in attendance, to signify the seriousness with which the Presidency takes the plans to create a regional economic bloc,” said Dr Laboso, the LREB Vice-Chairperson.

She added: "The president's schedule was tight. We couldn't speak all of us. I am not the one incharge of presidential itinerary. But we can meet and iron out the matter."

A section of Mt. Kenya leaders led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu believes that DP William Ruto may have stage-managed the walk out to pile pressure on Uhuru to publicly declare support for him.

But the rebel MPs insist that they wanted to use the occasion to address the thorny Mau Forest evictions, which they believe was mishandled by the government.
