Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has called upon Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to name his deputy as soon as possible.
Speaking during the 3rd anniversary of Sonko’s father Gideon Mbuvi Kioko, Kalonzo asked Sonko to take a quick action for the sake of development.
He said that a fast action will enable him to avoid what happened when he named deported lawyer Miguna Miguna for the post.
“Give them a deputy governor. Send one quickly. I do not know what it means to consult some of your party leaders or even intelligence to avoid the same fate that befell your other nominee Miguna Miguna,” said Mr Musyoka.
The governor nominated eight women who could succeed his former Deputy Polycarp Igathe.
The nominees are former Nairobi Woman Representative and current CAS Gender & Youth Ministry Rachel Shebesh, Business Woman Agness Kariuki, Former ODM nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro, Citizen TV news anchor Ann Kiguta and Lawyer Karen Nyamu.
He, however, said that he will consult Jubilee’s top brass before nominating the woman who will deputize him for the post.
The governor also said that he will follow the right procedure in nominating his deputy after Miguna was rejected. The governor has also refused to relocate services back to Nairobi.
