Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has revealed that he has a deal with Deputy President William Ruto regarding their union for the 2022 general elections.
The Ford Kenya party leader has been seen to shift towards the DP and his 2022 presidential ambitions lately, and has repeatedly and openly endorsed him for the top job.
Speaking on Wednesday, Khalwale said that their union is solid and official, and is based on an agreement which they have made and are willing to stick to.
He said that part of the agreement states that he will play a major role in ensuring that the DP gets the Western Kenya vote come 2022.
"Mimi na Ruto tumekubaliana eti niko na kitu ninaweza kumuongezea ili awe rais wa nchi hii (we have agreed that I will support his bid to be president)," he said.
The outspoken leader was speaking on Radio Citizen's Jambo Kenya show on Wednesday morning.
He added that Ruto's side of the truce states that he will hand over the position to Western Kenya after his tenure.
Khalwale said that the DP agreed that in exchange, he will see to it that the Luhya nation ascends to the presidency at an agreed time, adding that more details will be released later.
"Naye pia amekubali atatusaidia hapo mbele lakini mengi zaidi mutaelezwa hapo mbele (he agreed to help us achieve the same in future but the details will be revealed at a later date)," he added.
Khalwale is, however, yet to cross over to the Jubilee Party where the DP is the Deputy Party leader, the same party on whose ticket he is expected to seek the presidency.
