Speaking in Narok on Saturday, the DP poked holes in Raila's proposal for a referendum, saying that the nation doesn't need a new set of laws, a day after Raila said that the changes are inevitable.

On Sunday, Kuria joined the debate, throwing his weight behind the DP and urging Raila to drop his push as Kenyans do not need another session of political campaigns.

Raila has proposed major changes, among them a return to the parliamentary governance system from the current presidential one and the expansion of the executive to accommodate more individuals.

Speaking during a fundraiser at the Martyrs of Uganda Catholic Church in Gatundu, the MP also called for a halt in the rivalry between politicians of the 'Kieleweke' and 'Tanga Tanga' factions of the ruling Jubilee Party.

“We should stop the 'Kieleweke' and 'Tanga Tanga' groupings and sit as leaders from this region to strategise our next political move,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.

Majority of Jubilee leaders have taken sides between the Ruto-allied 'Tanga Tanga' team and the Kieleweke group which has vowed to stop Ruto from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
