Renowned KTN news presenter Lindah Oguttu has accused Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki of snubbing Kericho after a patient was admitted with symptoms similar to those of Ebola.
In a tweet, Oguttu faulted the Health CS, who went to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to oversee the screening of passengers coming into the country.
According to news anchor, the CS should have gone to Kericho or Malaba to oversee the screening exercise and not at the airport.
"A suspected Ebola case is reported in KERICHO... The woman in question used a BUS to Kenya... And our Health CS goes to JKIA to oversee screening..... Shouldn't she be in Kericho? Or better still, head to Malaba at the border? Nway, wacha nijipe shugli," she tweeted.
A woman with suspected Ebola symptoms was admitted at Kericho County Referral Hospital. The woman was reported to have travelled using a bus from Malaba, a town in Busia County on the border of Kenya and Uganda to see her husband.
Medics say the woman showed symptoms of the haemorrhagic fever and she was taken into seclusion so that more tests can be done on her.
According to Siloam Hospital's administrator, Margaret Okirio, the woman showed signs the same to those of Ebola patients.
"A female patient presented at our facility today with complaints of headache, hotness of the body, puffy face, some diarrhoea, and nausea of acute onset,” Okirio was quoted by Daily Nation.
