Kisumu Mamboleo Grounds witnessed a great Dala Sevens finals between Mwamba and Menengai Cream Homeboyz, with Mwamba emerging winners, crushing Menengai 17-0 to be crowned 2018 champions.
Mwamba were the better side from the start and took control of the game just after two minutes through the tenacious Daniel Taabu who made a good run from the middle of the pitch and touched the ground easily. He, however, failed to follow it up with a conversion, which he missed narrowly.
Homeboyz had a good chance just before the break, but the famous Oscar Ayodi squandered a glorious opportunity and the teams went for a break with Mwamba in the lead.
Mwamba widened their lead in the 13th minute but missed the conversion, and the scoresheet read 12-0, a firm lead just as the game intensified.
Mwamba captain Jack Eliakim stepped up and put the final nail with a fine try, which was this time converted to give them a comfortable win.
Mwamba coach was impressed by his boys' performance and resilience to see off the game.
"I am very proud of the boys because they have been resilient despite losing in the finals thrice. Its good to break Homeboyz dominance," said the coach.
