Making the claims via a social media on Sunday, controversial blogger Robert Alai said that Beryl Odinga, who is a blood sister to ODM leader Raila Amollo Odinga, has acquired property belonging to the Kenya Railways, Kisumu branch illegally.

"Hey @yukenovp Beryl Odinga, sister to @RailaOdinga grabbed very many properties belonging to Kenya Railways in Kisumu. When will the same be recovered? #Ufisadi," Alai posted on Twitter.

In 2012, Beryl Odinga, along with three others was charged with acquiring Kenya Railways property illegally while serving as chairperson of the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme.

However, the charges were withdrawn, courtesy of an order from the then Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to have the charges withdrawn under section 87(a) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

A few months ago, the Odinga family was implicated in a land defaulter's scandal through an advert by the Kisumu county.

Raila's late father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and elder brother Oburu Odinga were alleged to have defaulted to pay land rates accumulating to hundreds of thousands.

However, the Kisumu county governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o was quick to apologize to the family for what he said was an embarrassment to the family as the report released to the press was a draft and the final copy was to be released with clear figures.

Alai's statements of graft involving Raila family, therefore, remain mere allegations until the relevant investigative agencies such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) delve into the issue to unmask all the facts.
