The arrest of Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu last month was the last high-profile arrest order by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji in the last two weeks.

Mwilu who is facing corruption-related charges, however, moved to High Court stopping her prosecution.

The DPP has since requested the Chief Justice David Maraga to appoint a five bench Judge to hear a petition by DCJ Mwilu seeking to stop her prosecution.

Sources within the DPP says that the man who hails from Garissa county is studying and reviewing graft files forwarded to him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the  Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and will make major statements soon.

In his last address to the Media on August 28, Haji asked Kenyans to expect more high profile arrests.

The DPP said that he is studying files especially on contraband goods and arrests will be made soon.

“We are working on files and Kenyans should expect more people to be arrested and arraigned in court for failing to protect the interests of the country,” Haji said in a media briefing at his Nairobi office on August 28.

The DPP is also said to be waiting on the DCI to complete probe into the brutal killing of Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.

The DPP has promised that anyone implicated in the brutal murder whether 'big or small' will face the law.

“There are no sacred cows and whoever is implicated will be dealt with accordingly,” the DPP said when received a report from Haki Africa group a week ago.

The DPP is also keenly following on the attempted murder of former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar who is fighting for his life in hospital.

Two key suspects, Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki, linked to the attempted murder have so far been arrested charged in court for attempted murder.

In the recent months, Haji has received praise from Kenyans and politicians on his swift move in the fight against graft.

Haji maintains that his office is independent and does not take instructions from anyone.
