In the funeral that also saw Deputy President William Ruto reuniting with Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila took time to explain to mourners about his botched Canaan dreams.

"Plenty be found within our borders...kwa bibilia hiyo ndiyo canaan! na hiyo ndiyo Canaan tuliyokuwa tukiongelelea- Lakini tulipofika Jordan tukapata mamba na tukaona ni heri tujenge daraja," he said.

This loosely translates to: "We were just about to cross River Jordan but it was infested with dangerous crocodiles. I had to go back to drawing board so that I could reach Canaan.

"I was forced to use bridges so that I could reach there. Eventually, both NASA and Jubilee supporters arrived safely on the other side," said Raila in reference to Bulding Bridges initiative as Uhuru was left cracking ribs.

For Kenya to enjoy stability, he insisted, it was necessary for him to work with Uhuru to restore unity and tranquility.

In his speech, a rather tough talking Uhuru seemingly warned politicians politicising his working relationship with Raila.

"We cannot politic all the time. I reached Raila and stability can be seen. Let's stop unnecessary fights," he said.

Ruto accused Raila Odinga recently not allegedly hiding in handshake to frustrate him from within Jubilee, a claim that Raila has denied.

Uhuru is under tough balancing act after embracing Raila even as his deputy continues to fire back at the former Prime Minister, his anticipated opponent in 2022.
