More trouble is set to befall the opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) which is currently on its knees, following a new declaration by the Amani National Congress (ANC), one of its member parties.
In a press briefing at the parliament buildings on Tuesday, Lugari MP and a member of the Musalia Mudavadi-led side Ayub Savula disclosed the ANC’s members' plan to further smother the alliance.
He revealed that ANC allied MPs are planning to stop paying their monthly contributions to the alliance and instead channel it to the party itself.
This, he said, is a plan to formally kill the alliance, days after Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula announced his exit from the alliance, terming it ‘history’.
‘’As ANC members, we will now stop paying our monthly contributions to the NASA alliance to formally kill it,’’ he said.
‘’The money will instead be directly channeled to our party to help us re-brand in preparation for future elections,’’ he added.
He also hit out at the alliance leader Raila Odinga for supervising the collapse, bashing him for doing nothing to salvage the alliance which sponsored his 2017 presidential candidature.
‘’It is sad that we are yet to see Raila make any attempt to save the alliance. He has not convened any meeting to address the emerging issues,’’ said Savula.
