Kuria is so close to power in Kenya that his role in the country's politics can not be ignored. He is vehemently pushing for Deputy President William Ruto's presidency as he knows he will be a direct beneficiary of his close association with the former Eldoret MP when he becomes president.

But how would Kuria benefit if Ruto became commander in chief?

In a country where appointments involve intense lobbying, Kuria knows that he will play a pivotal role in determining who joins the government and who is fired from the appointed leaders Ruto will inherit from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

That he comes from a county (Kiambu) that wields immense power in the country and his close association with State House after 2022 will put him at an advantage.

He will directly influence the appointing authority in ensuring Kiambu is fully represented in the government. His influence will elevate his political stature as it would endear him to the electorate in Kiambu enabling him vie for any other higher elective seat in the county including the powerful government or Senate seats.

Kuria is among leaders from Central Kenya keen on ensuring Ruto becomes head of State. Others closely working with him on the agenda is his Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichung'wa, Senator Kimani Wamatang'i, Woman Representative Muthoni Wa Muchomba and Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
