29-year-old Monica Kimani was apparently raped before being brutally murdered at her Kilimani house in the posh Lamuria Gardens apartment, police have said.
Investigators working to pin down the killers said a DNA test of semen found in Monica’s pants placed suspect Joseph Irungu at the centre of the crime scene.
The semen matched Irungu’s by 99%.“DNA tests on semen found on the slain girl, and other samples from under her nails, confirmed with a 99.9 per cent accuracy that they belonged to Irungu, placing him at the scene of the crime on the material day and time,” the Standard reported.
Police also did an analysis on fingerprints found on Monica’s body as well as other places within the house.
According to a source privy of investigations, the girl’s callous killers left a trail of exhibits that will see the case easily prosecuted.
Irungu, alias Joe Jowie, is the main suspect in the gruesome murder. His lover Jacque Maribe is also behind bars after police said she could be charged as an accessory to the murder.
The deceased’s body was found on September 20 a day after she arrived in the country.
Her hands had been tied to the back, mouth taped shut and her legs tied together with a rope.
The killers then slit her neck from ear to ear.
Her body was dumped into a bathtub and the water left running to ostensibly drain the blood.
Police said they suspect the killer was after loads of cash in Monica’s house.
