In the past week, confidants of President Uhuru Kenyatta have come out open and disregarded an MoU reportedly signed by the two leaders in 2013 days before the merger of URP and TNA.

And for Wambugu, Uhuru reportedly paid his deputy millions for him to support his bid, adding that the President cleared with him at that time.

"WHAT DEBT?‘What debt? Money was paid; positions were given; influence was shared; commitments for protection were made. If we need to explain to others and further, let them continue behaving like they/we forgot’- overheard in some corridors.

"Clearly if you know you know!Happy New Year.****Meanwhile ... what meeting were The Kalenjin Council of Elders talking about yesterday?" he wrote.

With the president's allies going guns blazing against the DP, Uhuru has remained mum over the matter, only choosing to ask journalists to desist from fueling the 2022 succession debate.

Unity partnership between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga seems to have displaced Ruto from the equation, further throwing him off-balance.

At Mombasa on Friday, Uhuru said: "This is the last time am answering questions about 2022. Kenyans are much concerned with development and unity. We can talk about 2022 all the time."
