Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka seems to be on a journey to endear himself to President Uhuru Kenyatta's supporters.
Since President Kenyatta shook hands with opposition chief Raila Odinga, Kalonzo has been trying to make peace with the former by supporting his policies in government.
On Thursday, Kalonzo reiterated his full backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta's reignited war on corruption.
This follows the President's recent call for a lifestyle audit on all state officers, in a bid to eradicate the vice among individuals holding public offices.
Speaking during the Kamba Cultural Festival in Machakos on Thursday night, Musyoka lauded the move, noting that it will indeed salvage the nation from the menace.
"It is corruption that has caused among others the increased levels of joblessness in our country and for that, I fully support Uhuru and his anti-graft mechanism," he said.
Uhuru's moves, though widely accepted by political leaders and Kenyans alike, are facing opposition from within, with a section of leaders drawn from the ruling Jubilee Party questioning the audit.
The opposing side, made up of forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto, has questioned the audit's legality, stating that it is bound to abuse if used in its current state.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei have also claimed that the audit is in bad faith and is meant for a political witchhunt.
According to the two, it is largely aimed at raising suspicions over Deputy President William Ruto's integrity, in a bid to paralyze his 2022 presidential bid.
