The MP observes that Uhuru's move to reduce fuel levy from16% to 8% does not help the common 'mwananchi'.

According to the MP, President Kenyatta should have completely stopped the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on fuel and petroleum products.

Okoth said that Kenyans are suffering as a result of the hiked fuel prices.

"We understand the situation the government is in economically, but it is not wise for them to overburden Kenyans with taxes and condemn them to economic suffering," he told journalists in Kibera on Friday.

The ODM MP said that life has become unbearable for many city dwellers and Kenyans.
