The youthful MP’s constituency has severally been voted as the best in terms of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) utilization.

Okoth, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has seen his popularity continue to rise in the city political circles with claims that he could bid for the Nairobi governor seat in 2022.

Here are interesting facts you didn’t know about Ken Okoth:

He was born and raised at Kibera's  Kisumu Ndogo (Little Kisumu) in 1978. Okoth is the fourth born in a family of six.

The MP says that his father abandoned the family early in life, leaving their mother to bring them up single-handedly.

Okoth says that they used to live in a small 'mabati' house 30 meters from the Kibera railway line.

He schooled at Starehe Boys Center for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and proceeded abroad for his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at St Lawrence University in the United States (US).

The MP also studied his Masters in International Relations at Georgetown University in US.

Okoth is married and has children.

The MP once worked as a night guard at Goethe Cultural Institute in Nairobi earning a meager salary.

He also worked as a receptionist at Masava Hospital in Nairobi.

The MP joined active politics in 2013 clinching the Kibera parliamentary seat.

In the 2017 general election, he won again on an ODM ticket.

Okoth runs the Kibera Foundation that sponsors needy but bright students.

The MP is a staunch Christian and never misses sermons.

Okoth likes traveling and meeting new people.

The ODM MP says that he is focused on serving Kibera residents.

There are however claims that he could contest for the Nairobi senatorial or gubernatorial seat in 2022.

Okoth is among city youthful politicians who will shape Nairobi succession politics in 2022.
