A Nyamira County revenue officer died on spot after he was hit by a speeding PSV matatu on Thursday evening.
The fatal accident happened at Konate area, Nyamira junction.
Witnesses said the deceased identified as Robert Obanyi alias Rodgers was crossing the road when a speeding Nyamira Trans line Classic PSV matatu heading to Nakuru from Kisii hit him.
"Obanyi was crossing the road when the matatu whose driver was speeding knocked him down killing him on spot," said Martha Nyanchera.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Simon Onyuri said the deceased could not survive because his head was crashed severely.
"There are no speed bumps along the road where the deceased was knocked down. Locals crossing the road should be keen since we don't want to lose more lives during this festive season," said Onyuri.
Nyamira County police commander Catherine Mugo warned PSV drivers against over speeding.
"We are not going to allow careless drivers to continue operating on our roads. People's lives must be protected during this festive season," she noted.
Ms Mugo said the deceased body was moved to Nyamira County Hospital morgue.
