Police in Rangwe sub-county are holding a 16-year-old boy accused of killing his elder brother by stabbing him with a kitchen knife.
The suspect, a standard seven pupil at a local school reportedly struck his 18-year-old brother after a disagreement ensued over a pair of trousers.
The police arrested the alleged killer from the hands of angry villagers who wanted to lynch him and took him to custody.
Confirming the incident, the area Chief Peter Otieno told Citizen Digital that the deceased confronted his sibling and demanded to know why he had worn his trousers without permission.
The administrator said that a fight ensued, forcing the younger sibling to retreat.
However, he later returned with a knife and stabbed him in the stomach before fleeing.
Witnesses said that the older boy who works at the Asumbi Teachers Training College was irked because his brother had left the trousers dirty after wearing them.
The victim was rushed to the Rangwe Sub County but could not be attended to and had to be transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) hospital in Kisumu.
However, he succumbed to his wound hours later, according to a report received by the Tuesday Standard.
