Two people died on Monday morning after a Kibos Sugar Company trailer collided with a matatu.
One person died on the spot, while the second one succumbed to the injuries while being treated at St. Benedicts Hospital in Muhoroni town.
After colliding with the matatu, the trailer swerved off the road and rolled several times before hitting and destroying structures beside the road.
An angry mob rushed to the scene of the accident, and set the trailer ablaze claiming that it's driver was the cause of the accident.
“We will not allow drivers to drive carelessly on this road. They must not gamble with the lives of passengers," one of the youth shouted.
Deputy County Commissioner, Kipkech Lotiatia visited the scene of the accident and blamed the trailer driver for driving carelessly.
It took a lot of time for the injured passengers to be rescued from the matatu wreckage.
This is not the first accident that has occurred in the same spot at Muhoroni Junction.
On 6th May this year, a lorry collided with a 67-seater passenger bus headed to Kericho from Kisumu. It left one person dead and scores nursing serious injuries.
