This is as the opposition boss Raila Odinga-led side seeks to defend the vacant parliamentary seat in the much anticipated by-election set for April 5.

Led by Siaya Senator James Orengo, the group on Saturday camped at Ukwala ward where it campaigned for Chris Karan whose 2017 election was nullified by the Supreme Court.

According to Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi who was present, the voters vowed to back the party through Karan in the much awaited contest.

"We joined our candidate in the upcoming Ugenya by election, Hon Chris Karan in the final meet the people consultative fora within Ukwala ward.

"We thank the people for their promise to give our ODM party victory," Atandi said in a tweet.

Karan is expected to face off with among others, former area MP and his fiercest rival David Ochieng' of the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party.

Ochieng' is also the power behind Karan's election nullification by the Supreme Court in December last year.

Karan narrowly beat Ochieng' in the previous election held on August 8, 2017, after Ochieng' walked out of ODM to form the MDG bloc.
