Deputy President William Ruto has been making moves in the greater Northern Kenya region in a bid to woo members of the Somali community to vote for him.
In that quest, he is banking on the support of female leaders.
They have already declared their support for his presidential bid, and only time will tell whether they will fulfill their promises.
Here is a list of the leaders:
1. Anab Subow
She is the current Woman Rep for Garissa county.
Anab is a first time legislator who was elected in 2017 on the Jubilee party ticket.
Speaking in Wajir when the DP visited, she threw her weight behind his presidential ambitions.
"We as the Northern Kenya leaders, we are behind you, and we know in 2022 you will be our president. Let people talk but we want to tell you that we are behind you. We are your foot soldiers, and we will defend you," she said.
2. Sophia Abdi Noor
She is the current Member of Parliament for Ijara constituency.
Sophia vanquished male competitors fronted by top political parties in the country.
The former teacher who is passionate about issues affecting women, is part of an army of female leaders from Northern Kenya supporting Ruto's presidential ambitions.
"I want us to promise you that we will stand with you, the way you stood with us," she said at Orahey in Wajir during the DP's visit.
3. Rehema Dida Jaldesa
She is the current Woman Rep for Isiolo County.
Rehema spoke in glowing terms about DP Ruto's 'philanthropy' in Wajir.
She has vowed to support the DP for the presidency.
"We agreed that Uhuru will do ten years and then Ruto will do another ten. Ruto was here for a fundraiser for the teachers of Isiolo. He also raised funds for our women. Our president in 2022 is Ruto, " she said in Isiolo.
