Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has reacted to President Uhuru Kenyatta's mini cabinet reshuffle on Friday.
The Head of State sacked Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and replaced him with Amina Mohamed who until her reassignment was the Minister for Education.
The President nominated Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) boss Prof George Magoha to take over as Education Cabinet Secretary.
Murkomen congratulated Magoha for landing the top post in the Jubilee government and said the nomination was well deserved.
The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator wished his 'friend' Echesa good luck in his future endeavours out of government and expressed optimism that Amina will succeed in her new docket.
"Congratulations to my friend Prof George Albert Omore Magoha for your well-deserved appointment. Best wishes to my sister Amb Mohamed in her new station. To my friend Rashid Echesa good speed!" Murkomen posted on his official Twitter handle.
Echesa, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, was recently lectured by Uhuru for allegedly engaging in 2022 succession politics at the expense of delivering on his mandate.
His ministry has been on the spot over scandals raging from issuing work permits to Pakistan belly dancers to failure to pay allowances of the amputee football team that represented Kenya in the World Cup competition.
Echesa, a former youth leader in the Raila Odinga-led ODM party, was appointed Cabinet Secretary in 2017 after Uhuru was sworn in to serve his second and final term.
