Apart from being in contention to earn a ticket to represent the region in the national finals later this year, four girls’ teams and four boys’ teams are battling out for the Nyanza region bragging rights.

The two-day event kicked off today morning with two girls’ teams booking their place in the final to be played tomorrow at the same venue.

Hosts Manyatta Ladies booked the final spot after thrashing Kisii County’s Kisii Ladies 6-0, while Homabay’s NCEOD Queens bettered that scoreline by defeating Migori’s Migori Education Centre 7-0 in the semis girls’ category.

The two teams will now meet in the final tomorrow.

At the moment the first semi-final match boys’ category is going on, pitting Victory Strikers against Nyamira Springs. The scoreline was 2-2, in the second half.

Later, hosts Manyatta United will play against Nyamaharaga FC in the second semi-final.

At the end of the tournament tomorrow, Nyanza region will have new Champions after last year’s winners Ombek Red Devils and Plateau Queens from Nyakach failed at the initial stages of the tournament this year.
