The Kakamega County Bobaboda Sacco members were all joyous over the weekend after receiving a brand new van from the county former Senator Boni Khalwale under the aid of Deputy President William Ruto.

DP Ruto has been in Kakamega in the last few days launching and initiating various projects for the locals as he seeks to win some support for his bid for the presidency in 2022.

The Sacco where Khalwale is the patron launched their first commercial vehicle which will be for hire as an avenue to generate more income to the entity.

"Yesterday, to the delight of Bodaboda riders in Kakamega,as the patron of this sacco I launched their first commercial vehicle. Thank you William Ruto for supporting the members of Kakamega County Bodaboda Sacco," stated Khalwale in a statement on social media.

DP Ruto has been appealing to Kenya's informal employment sector and even religious groups to form Saccos as a way to help members advance in personal development.

 In the Deputy President's view, Saccos would help Kenyans of low income get access to credit facilities which can be used to further grow their areas of interest in business of farming.

A few weeks ago while at his Karen home, DP Ruto handed over a certificate of incorporation to the Africa Divine Church Sacco whose formation he inspired.

He said Saccos alone collected at least Sh500 billion in the last financial year, as such were a crucial part of the country's economy.
