A 20-year-old man has been arrested for defiling a minor in Makueni County.
The suspect is accused of defiling a 14-year-old girl at Kisayani village in Kibwezi Sub-county.
He spent his Friday night at Kibwezi police station.
Kibwezi assistant county commissioner Vitalis Ogul confirmed the incident.
He said the man was working as a house boy in one of the neighbouring homes before his arrest.
Ogul said the suspect eloped after committing the heinious act.
However, the police were able to nab him .
"At around 7.00pm, officers went to look for the suspect who had escaped after committing the crime. He was caught and spent the night at the police station," Ogul said.
He said the girl sustained serious injuries from the man.
Ogul said the suspect hails from Mutomo in Kitui County.
He urged the locals to do a background check on people before employing them.
This is in a bid to ensure they don't employ people full of social vices, thus proving an insecurity to them.
"Residents should know what type of people they employ for the sake of their security and that of their belongings," he said.
The suspect is expected to appear in court after police conclude their investigations.
Several Makueni leaders have decried increased cases of defilement.
