In an interview at Citizen TV on Wednesday, Kuria said Uhuru is a 'man who keeps his words' and that his integrity is beyond reproach.

He said the President will not be interested in assuming other positions contrary to suggestions from other politicians.

"I know the president very well. If you ask me what he will do after 2022, I will simply refer you to what he told Richard Quest of CNN. He won't run for any seat and he's not interested."

He added: "The president is a man of his words and I can assure you that. However, people have a democratic right to keep asking him to assume some other seats."

The debate on Uhuru's post-2022 has been an elephant in the room with a section of politicians insisting that he's too young to retire from active politics.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has often insisted that the constitution should be changed to have Uhuru accommodated post-2022 due to his young age.

"Where will people like Uhuru go if we don't change the constitution? He should be in government and that is what we want. He's too young to go home," he had said.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka also said Uhuru Kenyatta cannot be written off in the country's politics, adding that he will be glad to see him performing other duties.
