Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has warmed the hearts of many of his constituents after promising to build five world-class stadiums ahead of 2020 IAAF under 20 Championship to be held in Nairobi.
The vocal Jubilee legislator made the remarks after making a visit to Karatu Stadium in the company of Sports CS Rashid Mohammed Echesa and Sports Kenya Chairman Fred Muteti.
According to the MP, Karatu Stadium is one of the seven regional stadia pledged by the Jubilee government to be constructed across the country and that it will serve as the home ground of one of the teams playing in the Kenya Premier league in the 2019 season.
"The stadium will serve as the home ground for one of the teams in Kenya Premier League 2019. In addition to Karatu Stadium, we agreed with CS Rashid to set up four stadia to serve as academies and training grounds for the 2020 IAAF Under 20 Championship that will be hosted in Kenya."
Mr Kuria revealed that the stadia includes Gatundu Stadium, Mundoro Stadium, Kiamwangi Stadium and Kimunyu Stadium.
The legislator further revealed that the construction will be funded by the Gatundu south CDF and the Ministry of Sports through Sports Kenya.
"They will be funded under a partnership between Gatundu South CDF and the Ministry of Sports through Sports Kenya," Mr Kuria added.
