Rosemary Odinga has given Kenyans a glimpse of her health condition in an emotional interview aired on Citizen TV.
Rosemary narrated how she almost died during a workshop in Naivasha were it not for her instincts that made her reject an ambulance ride.
The firstborn daughter of Opposition bigwig Raila Odinga said she had organized a women-in-politics workshop in Naivasha when she suffered a massive headache.
“I was doing a workshop for ladies who want to be politicians, and my head was just aching. Then I remember I was called for breakfast and I couldn’t open the door… eventually, after knocking and opening the door, I just collapsed onto the help who was there,” Rosemary said during the interview.
At that moment, her elder daughter and friends run to organize for a quick ride to the hospital.“My older daughter ran to the clinic and they sent an ambulance which came and picked me up.
Then they said we could drive to Nairobi but I said I couldn’t make it so they sent for a chopper which brought me to Nairobi,” she said.
The 41-year-old added: “When we reached Nairobi, doctors said it was a matter of instinct as I would not have made it (to the hospital) had I used an ambulance.”
The mother of two was to later be told that she had a brain tumor.
She went for treatment in India where the tumor was removed.
Unfortunately, she suffered a stroke and lost her sight.
She said her left eye doesn’t see anything and the right one is foggy.
