Police officers in Masaba North, Nyamira County have launched a manhunt for a man who stole a motorbike on Sunday.
Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo confirmed the incident saying the thief whose identity could not be revealed immediately, arrived in Keroka and paid the bodaboda rider Michael Asiago Sh400 for training.
"The suspect pretended that he wanted to be trained on how to ride. After paying Sh400, they left Keroka to Nyasore area where the suspect turned against the motorbike owner and fled off with the motorbike abandoning the owner stranded," noted Apondo.
The OCPD warned bodaboda riders against accepting money from strangers who impose as customers but only to steal from them.
He called on bodaboda riders to cooperate and provide information to police that will aid in the arrest of the suspect.
"Police launched a manhunt for the suspect immediately the motorbike owner reported the matter to police. We will do everything possible to ensure the suspect is nabbed," stated Apondo.
Apondo urged riders to be vigilant and report to police anyone they suspect in the bodaboda sector might be colluding with thieves to steal motorbikes.
