Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia MP said that the situation was complicated after the entrance of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga through his truce with Uhuru last year.

He now claims that the former Prime Minister has gone ahead to win Uhuru's heard, observing that he has technically taken Ruto's position both in Uhuru's eyes and in reality and is the new Deputy President.

According to Wamwere, Ruto has in turn been pushed a step back, and can now be equated to Raila's deputy, thanks to the luxury and privileges the ODM leader has been enjoying on Uhuru's orders.

"Naona Raila ameongezewa magari na anasafiri na helikopta za serikali. Kusema kweli Raila ndiye makamu wa Rais. Ruto naye sasa ni makamu wa makamu wa Rais (Raila has been given aditional vehicles and is travelling using government helicopters. Honestly, he is the Deputy President while Ruto is the Deputy to the Deputy President)," he said.

Wamwere was speaking on Cheche show on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi on Saturday evening, remarks that were echoed by former The National Alliance (TNA) party chair in Nakuru county Abdul Noor.

Noor observed that Raila is now enjoying a bigger motorcade of state vehicles with more powers despite not holding any state or elective seat, proof that he holds a bigger position.

"Hapa kuna Raila ambaye sio rais, mbunge ama chief lakini analipwa mshahara. Naibu wa Rais ni Raila, hata yuko na msafara mkubwa kuliko Ruto (here we have Raila who is neither a president nor an MP or a chief but is being paid a salary. He is the Deputy President and even has a bigger convoy than Ruto's)," he added.

The two are expected to battle it out for the presidency in the 2022 polls, though Raila remains silent on his plans.
