The student from Tumaini Secondary School is being accused of allegedly killing Peter Mogusu Omare, a Physics and Computer Studies teacher at Hopewell Secondary School in Barut, Nakuru County.

The accused, however, failed to plead to the charges of murder for the second time as the judge was away.

The court heard that the accused together with others not before the court committed the offence on January 24, this year.

The student through his lawyer, Peter Bore, asked the court to release him complaining that the rights of his client have been violated by his continued detention without being charged.

The suspect has been detained since January 24 following the attack on the teacher.

The 35-year-old teacher was attacked by the student in the company of others about 100 metres from the school while on his way to his house.

The teacher who suffered multiple head injuries and a cracked skull had confiscated a phone from some of the students in school.

The case will be mentioned on February 20.
