Kalonzo Musyoka is one of the most respected politicians in the country. He served as a Vice President during former President Mwai Kibaki's reign.
Kalonzo is the Wiper party leader. He was among the NASA co-principals who had been expected to attend the controversial swearing in of the opposition coalition's chief Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park early this year.
Raila's oathing was prompted by the claims that Jubilee rigged the August 8, 2017 elections.
Kalonzo who was the Raila's running mate never attended the ceremony.
It later emerged that the Wiper leader together with other co-principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula had been arrested and locked inside one room to prevent them from attending the swearing in.
However, the then National Police Service Director of Communication Charles Owino refuted the claims.
In a statement circulated to media houses, Owino denied Kalonzo’s arrest stating that none of the NASA principals had been arrested.
“I can confirm that he was not under house arrest,” Owino said.
Prior to the claims, Kalonzo had said he failed to attend the event on security grounds.
