Ibrahim Sheikh, a candidate in the Wajir West by-election has promised to deliver for the people if he is elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Thursday by-election.
Sheikh who is contesting on KANU party ticket says his focus will be on education, provision of water, food security and unemployment if he is elected.
In an interview on Sunday, Sheikh said education standards in the constituency is worrying.
He promised to ensure all needy but bright students get acess to the bursary fund.
Sheikh also pledged to promote girl-child education and end practices that he says deny girls chance to go to school.
On water, Sheikh vowed to work with the national and county government to make sure boreholes are drilled in the constituency.
"Access to clean water remains a big problem for Wajir West residents and it will be one of my key focus if I win the parliamentary seat," he said in a phone interview on Sunday.
The KANU candidate also pledged to create job opportunities for unemployed youths.
He revelaed that unemployment has exposed young people to crime and terrorism.
Sheikh said there are many opportunities that if harnessed can create jobs for young people.
He also vowed to push for unity and peaceful co-existence among the many clans in the constituency.
Other areas the MP has promised to work on if elected are road and infrastructure development , empowerment of marginalized groups and security.
Sheikh has at the same time urged residents to remain peaceful ahead of the by election on Thursday.
The KANU candidate is facing off with Ahmed Kolosh of Jubilee Party.
Sheikh successfully petitioned Kolosh victory that saw the Supreme Court nullify it.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), 27, 544 registered voters distributed across 75 polling stations will vote in the Thursday by-election.
