On January 15, 2019, terrorists struck Dusit Complex in Nairobi. One of the masterminds behind the inhuman act, Mahir Khaluid Riziki, was born in Mombasa. The suicide bomber lived in Majengo.
Police raided his home in Majengo and arrested his wife, Suhaila Mwalim Bakari, for interrogation.
He schooled at Bhadala Secondary School for a short time and dropped out while still in form one in 2011. The 25-year-old was also once a tuk tuk operator in Mombasa.
Reports say that police had his criminal details even before he toured Somalia between 2013 and 2014.
He was linked to the deadly 2015 Garissa University attack that claimed 147 lives. Authorities listed him as one of the nine most wanted people who planned the terror attack.
Investigations concerning the Dusit D2 attack reveal that Riziki blew himself up.
