Mandera County Government has set aside Sh6 million following a bus accident from Mandera that left 14 people dead.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday after the accident, Governor Roba said the Sh6 million is part of the County’s disaster management kitty.

Roba led the Mandera County in mourning the loss of lives after the road accident of a Nairobi-bound bus from Mandera.

The Governor said the county government will support the affected families who lost their loved ones in the road accident.

He said the Sh6 million which is meant to help the deceased’s families will also cater for medical expenses for the 27 other passengers who sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

“The County government will offer Sh6 million from the county’s disaster management to support families who lost their loved ones.”

“Sh3 million will be used to support families who lost their loved ones, while the other half will cater for medical bills of the survivors,” said Roba as quoted by citizentv.co.ke.

The bus from Mandera rammed a stationary truck at Matuu in Machakos leaving 14 dead and 27 injured who were rushed to Matuu Level Four Hospital.

The dead included 10 men, three women and a child.

According to the police, the bus rammed the truck from behind before losing control and veered off the road.
