Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori has remained defiant despite facing expulsion from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for associating with Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday during a funds drive in Nyumba Mbovu, Dori said that he is the people’s choice and not ODM’s.
He urged his diehard supporters to remain calm as he defends himself after endorsing DP Ruto, who has been a thorn in the flesh of his party leader, for Presidency come 2022.
The Raila Odinga-led party has threatened to kick out Dori and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa.
The duo has, however, rubbished the ODM top leadership for their expulsion after appearing before the National Executive Committee of the party. Dori said that the leaders of ODM are the ones who want him out of the party and not the people who voted for him.
He also insisted that he will not sit back and watch himself falling down.
"I am still your leader and as far as I'm concerned, it is the party leadership that is planning to kick me out and not the voters,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The two leaders affirmed that they will stand with DP as he seeks to ascend to power. The lawmakers have faulted Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for their woes.
